Yerba Mate is made from a tree native to South America, the Ilex paraguariensis. It is actually very low in caffeine content and yet it is stimulating. It is very high in antioxidents and offers many health properites including; Vitmains B-1, B-2, A, riboflavin, carotene, colin, pantothenic acid, inostol and 15 types of amioacids. It is also high in potassium, sodium, and magnesium.
Yerba Mate is traditionally consumed in South America out of a mate gourd called a calebasse, and sucked up through a strainer straw called a bombilla. It is now offered in a selection of tasty blends.
